Appropriation

Appropriation artists designedly copy images in their artwork. It absolutely do not plagiarize. They are not pass these images off as their own artworks. Their artworks makes people think about original artworks.

Barbara Kruger

Barbara Kruger is a famous feminist artist who come from America. Most of her images is from magazines. Her works be formed from black-and-white photographs and she always use red logo to attack audience’s attention. She 1uses text and image to connect with the audience. In a brief statement, she comprehensive criticize about gender, culture, society and the economy. She always uses catchword put on the image. There are some her artworks, she put images and text together and show that feminism and consumerism.

I got idea from one couple. For my work, I took a photo of the two hands. Their hands arranged in the form of a heart. On this black-and-white photos, there has a red logo. This photo shows the love between girlfriend and boyfriend. I also use catchword on my image.  When a man ask his girlfriend to marry him, the lady always say “Yes I do”. It is represent happiness. They wear the wedding ring. The wedding ring is the outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual bond which unites two loyal hearts in endless love. The wedding ring is usually a symbolic gesture of love.

Salvador Dalí

He’s got very vivid imagination. His eccentric approach and remarkable public behavior get more attention than his works. For example, he created link between telephone and lobster. It is a very interesting and particular idea. This famous painting has been transformed with characters and elements from an iconic Simpson family in imitation or quirkish fashion. This has become a very popular for its ironic and style, he attack any current issue by different characters.

My image

I got idea from Dali. For my work, I make an image about a man who was playing volleyball. This image is London Tower Bridge. It looks very amusing.  There are a man stayed in the river.  It look like he is swimming and playing volleyball.  The bridge look like volleyball net. He played volleyball back close to the net.
